Frequently asked questions

Is the game paid?

No. Mahjong Hanzi is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

When will the game be in the stores?

We are working on the first iPhone and Android release. Store links will appear here once the game is available.

Do I need the internet?

Not for regular play — the basic levels ship with the app. The internet is useful for the leaderboard, server-side progress and new levels.

What level of Chinese is it for?

It starts with HSK 1 vocabulary in three difficulty levels — good for beginners and for revision.

Do I need an account?

No. The game starts right away on a guest account. Linking Apple or Google only helps when you change phones.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Other ways are on the account deletion page.

Does the website mini game save scores?

No. It runs only in your browser and neither sends nor stores anything.

We design Mahjong Hanzi around child-friendly principles:

no chat, photos or free text — nicknames come from a generator;
no ads, currencies or purchases;
no access to location, microphone or camera;
the profile flag is a cosmetic choice, not a location;
the leaderboard shows only the nickname, Panda, flag and points;
a parental gate before linking or deleting an account and before external links;
no time pressure — nothing happens until the player moves.
