Terms of use

These terms govern the use of the Mahjong Hanzi game and the hanzigames.com website. The Polish version is the binding one; this English version is provided for convenience.

1. General provisions and definitions

The service provider is [company name], [registered address], NIP [tax ID (NIP)], REGON [REGON], [KRS / CEIDG], e-mail: support@hanzigames.com (“Provider”).

  • App — the Mahjong Hanzi game for iOS and Android devices.
  • Site — the hanzigames.com website including the mini game.
  • User — anyone using the App or the Site.
  • Guest account — an account created automatically, without contact details.
  • Linked account — a guest account linked by a parent or guardian to an Apple or Google account.

2. Services

The Provider offers, free of charge:

  • the App — an educational puzzle game for learning Chinese characters, pinyin and words;
  • the App’s online features, such as saving progress on the server, the leaderboard and downloading new levels;
  • the Site with information about the game, documents and a browser mini game.

The App contains no ads and no in-app payments. Should this change, we will update these terms in advance (see “Changes”).

The basic levels work without the internet; online features need a connection.

3. Technical requirements

  • App: a device with a currently supported version of iOS or Android, downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Site: an up-to-date web browser with JavaScript enabled (for the mini game).
  • Online features need internet access; data charges follow your carrier’s plan.

4. Account

A guest account is created automatically the first time the App goes online. The nickname is generated; Users do not type their own text.

Linking the account to Apple or Google is optional and lets you move progress to another device. It sits behind a parental gate and should be done by a parent or guardian.

The agreement is formed when you start using the App or the Site and lasts for an indefinite period.

5. Minors

Children may use the App. Users under 16 use it with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for account settings, including linking or deleting the account.

6. Rules of use

Users agree not to:

  • interfere with the App, the Site or the servers, including overloading them or bypassing security;
  • manipulate scores or the leaderboard, e.g. with bots, scripts or modified versions of the App;
  • supply unlawful content;
  • decompile the App beyond what mandatory law allows.

If these rules are broken, the Provider may remove a score from the leaderboard or block the account, giving notice where possible.

7. Intellectual property

The App, the Site, graphics, recordings and the selection of content are protected by law. The Provider grants Users a non-exclusive, non-transferable, free licence to use the App and the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes for the duration of the agreement.

8. Liability

We do our best to keep the game running and its learning content accurate. The game complements language learning but does not replace a course or a teacher.

We may temporarily switch off online features, e.g. during maintenance. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits consumer rights under mandatory law.

9. Complaints

Send complaints, including about the conformity of the digital service, to support@hanzigames.com. Describe the problem and, if possible, include the App version and device model.

We reply within 14 days of receiving the complaint.

10. Termination and account deletion

You may stop using the services and delete your account at any time — in the App or by following the account deletion steps. Deleting the account ends the agreement. The Provider may end the agreement for good reason, in particular a serious breach of these terms or the game being discontinued, with 30 days’ notice unless the law or security requires immediate action.

11. Personal data

How we process data is described in the Privacy policy.

12. Changes to the terms

The Provider may change these terms for good reason, e.g. new laws or a change in services. We will announce changes in the App or on the Site at least 14 days before they take effect. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account.

13. Final provisions

These terms are governed by Polish law. This choice of law does not deprive consumers of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the country where they habitually reside.

Using an App downloaded from a store is also subject to the App Store or Google Play terms.
